Albay Gov. Bichara faces Senate committee as resource person for National ID system bill
Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara attended a Senate committee hearing yesterday on the proposed National ID System law.
Bichara faced the Senate committee on justice and human rights, a subcommittee on national identification system, as a resource person.
Bichara, during his term as congressman in 16th Congress, was the main proponent of the bill on National ID System.
“The bill Bichara proposed then aimed to consolidate all existing government-initiated identification systems into one-integrated and ID system,” the province said.
Bichara said that the proposed law requires all Filipinos, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, to register personal information required by the ID system for purposes of securing a non-transferrable Filipino ID Card with a number valid for one’s lifetime.
