Palawan top contributor in MIMAROPA’s GRDP for 2016

The Province of Palawan has recorded the biggest contribution to the Region 4-B’s gross regional domestic product in 2016, according to the initial report of the PSA.

The Palawan provincial government, citing the preliminary data from the Provincial Product Account of the Philippine Statistics Authority, said that the province contributed 50.5% to the gross regional domestic product of the MIMAROPA region.

“Ang lalawigan ng Palawan ang may pinakamalaking kontribusyon sa ekonomiya ng MIMAROPA. Ito ang lumabas sa preliminary results ng isinagawang Provincial Product Account ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Ayon sa ulat, 50.5 porsyento (50.5%) ng kabuuang ekonomiya ng rehiyong MIMAROPA para sa taong 2016 ay nagmula sa Palawan,” the Palawan government said in a statement.

The province said that the data was presented on Oct. 30 in partnership of the PSA and the Provincial Planning Development Office (PPDO).

“Ang mga industriya sa lalawigan na may pinakamalaking naibahagi sa MIMAROPA Gross Regional Domestic Product ay ang mining and quarrying na umabot sa 87.9% at sinundan ng industriya ng agrikultura na nagtala ng 50.2% habang 47% naman ang sa financial intermediation,” the province said.

“Kaugnay nito, nagtala rin ng 5.6% na paglago sa ekonomiya ang lalawigan nitong nagdaang taon na mas mataas kung ikukumpara sa 2.4% na naitala noong taong 2015,” it added.
