Standing up for Abaca: Catanduanes Cong appeals to DA Sec Piñol for budget
Where’s the budget?
During the Friday’s 2018 Agriculture budget hearing last Friday, Catanduanes representative Cesar Sarmiento asked the Congress to prioritize and allocate budget for the dying abaca industry in the province.
“Mr Secretary, we need your help, Catanduanes needs you help. This is not for me. This is for Catanduanes and this is for the Philippines,” Sarmiento told Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, according to the Catanduanes Serbihan Facebook post.
“Sa tagal dumating ng budget, tagal ng paghihintay sa pondo, natatabunan ang pangangailangan ng Catanduanes dahil napupunta ang atensyon sa ibang isyu,” he added.
Sarmiento said the need to develop the production of Abaca should be considered urgent since most of the farms were affected by typhoons.
High time to take a look at the little things which feed the little people! Good job, Cong!
