IT is in! Palawan Mayor hosts ‘Geeks on the Beach’
We’re not your typical island boys and girls.
Proving that Palawan is not just a paradise but also a hub for techy people, Puerto Princesa Mayor Luis Marcaida III hosted the “Geeks on the Beach” conference at the Princesa Garden Island Resort and Spa on Thursday and Friday.
“Thank you all for coming to the City of Puerto Princesa, may your presence in our city inspire our local youth and IT people to follow your lead in the startup community. Mabuhay ang 2017 Geeks on a Beach,” Marcaida said in his Facebook post.
According to its website, Geeks on a Beach (GOB), which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, is an annual international conference for IT professionals, experts or anyone passionate about startups, technology, design, and making the world a better place.
GOB aims to look at ways of leveraging technology to help address Philippine social and environmental problems, its website said.
“We would like to promote Palawan that while we are in paradise, we are also techy people coping with the demands of the city,” Marcaida said.
Looks good! And hopefully your net connection gets faster soon, Mayor!
