CamNorte Gov Tallado wants simple Independence Day rites

Simple but meaningful.

That’s Camarines Norte Governor Edgar Tallado’s marching orders for the Provincial Government’s celebration of Independence Day on Monday, June 12, says Museum Curator Abel Icatlo.

At the Capitol, a solemn mass will kick off the celebration of the annual event at 7 a.m., a Camarines Norte New report Sunday (June 11) said. The customary flag ceremony will follow.

Next on the itinerary will be the commemorative program and parade.

According to Icatlo, Independence Day is the time of year when the province commemorates the bravery of the 500 people who sacrificed their lives in the so-called Daet Revolt of 1898.

The revolt was led by intellectuals of the time such as Ildefonso Moreno, Vicente Lukban as well as other heroes from Camarines Norte.
