NIA Chief Visaya tells CamSur farmers: Wag kayo sumali sa terorista!
National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Chief Ricardo Visaya had one very important message to farmers during a recent visit to Camarines Sur: Don’t join terror groups.
According to a Brigada News FM Naga report Friday (June 9), Visaya, a retired Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff, said that it’s part of the rebel fighters’ plan to woo farmers into their fold.
The NIA administrator argued that joining the such groups won’t do local farmers any good. Instead, this would only put their lives in danger.
Visayas made the appeal a couple of weeks after ISIS-linked Maute Group terrorists occupied Marawi City in Lanao del Sur.
President Rodrigo Duterte subsequently placed Mindanao under Martial Law to address the “rebellion,” which based on Proclamation No. 216 also covered communist rebels.
Bicol is known to be infested by Red rebels.
At any rate, Visaya told the farmers that he will fulfill his mandate as NIA administrator and eliminate corruption in the agency.
The retired general was designated to the post by Duterte last March 7.
