Saklolo! Masbate faces blackout over P1.6-B power debt
Masbate is seeking intervention from Malacanang to avert a blackout due to a P1.6-billion debt to a local electric cooperative.
Governor Antonio Kho said DMCI decided to cut off its power supply to Masbate Electric Cooperative, whose management failed to settle demand payables.
The cooperative was told to settle generation charges and other receivables as of April 2017, amounting to ₱273,653,461.97.
Maselco has a pending loan application with the National Electrification Administration, but the NEA denied it due to its failure to show collection for capital expenditures.
