Burn! Lagman says ‘influential’ Duterte could mean ‘bad’

“Influential” doesn’t always equal “good”.

Thus, said Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman regarding President Rodrigo Duterte’s latest milestone–being included in Forbes Magazine’s Top 74 most powerful people in the world.

Duterte, who has made waves in regional politics since taking over Malacañang in July, came in at no.70 in the list of global influencers according to the international business magazine.

“We congratulate the President for having been selected as one of most influential people but influence can either be bad or good,” a rather unimpressed Lagman said Thursday.

Lagman, who is part of the “Magnificent 7” in the House of Representatives (HOR), have credited Duterte for ushering in a culture of death and violence in the Philippines no thanks to persisting summary executions and his administration’s aggressive attempt to reimpose the death penalty.

Lagman’s group is the self-declared fiscalizers of the Duterte administration.
