CamSur solon Fuentebella bats for Partido airport construction
It’s high time for another airport to rise in Camarines Sur, this time in the Municipality of San Jose.
As such, Camarines Sur 4th district Rep. Noli Fuentebella penned and filed House Bill (HB) no. 1685, which seeks the establishment of the Partido Domestic Airport or PDA.
“Based on the Master Plan prepared by the Partido Development Administration, there is a need to establish an airport in the said municipality in order to spur economic growth and further boost tourism activities in the Fourth Congressional District of Camarines Sur commonly known as the Partido District,” read the bill’s explanatory note.
Fuetebella said the proposed airport will serve as a link to world-class spots in the province. Some of these scenic areas are the Atulayan Island in Sagnay town, the site of the famous reality TV show “Survivor” in Caramoan, and the Partido Riviera.
“It will also provide a more convenient access to secondary and tertiary educational institutions in Camarines Sur, the Philippine Science High School-Bicol Campus and the Partido State University…both located in the Municipality of Goa, Camarines Sur,” it further read.
Under the measure, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) shall undertake the planning, design, and construction of the airport, as well as the acquisition of the airport site in the Barangays of Telegrafo and Manzana, San Jose.
