Fight pa rin! Lagman group seeks suspension of Marcos burial

Albay Representative Edcel Lagman and other members of the minority bloc have asked the Supreme Court (SC) to issue a suspension order against the burial of late strongman Ferdinad Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).

This, after the SC voted 9-5 in favor of the controversial hero’s burial for the dictator.

Lagman and his co-petitioners filed a manifestation on Thursday (November 10) which sought the issuance of another status ante order which would halt the burial.

“Considering that the subject Decision is not yet final and to foreclose the projected motion/s for reconsideration from being rendered moot by a precipitate burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani, it is respectfully manifested and prayed that the Honorable Supreme Court may consider reissuing the Status Ante Order and/or advising the Respondents not to proceed with the said burial pending resolution of the motion/s for reconsideration to be interposed seasonably by the herein petitioner and the other petitioners,” read the manifestation.

Since they have to receive the SC decision on the burial, the petitioners explained that they could not yet file a motion for reconsideration against the ruling.

Lagman’s fellow petitioners include Ifugao Rep.Teddy Baguilat Jr., Akbayan Partylist Rep. Tomasino Villarin, Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice and Capiz Rep. Emmanuel Billones.

The same group had earlier filed a petition to block the Palace-ordered LNMB funeral for Marcos.
