Again, no Seal of Good Local Governance for Camarines Sur
The losing streak continues for the local government of Camarines Sur.
This, after it once again failed to be join the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) list of Seal of Good Local Governance awardees from the Bicol region this 2016.
A Bicol standard report said that Camarines Sur as a province has never been given the award.
Included in the Seal of Good Local Governance list as far as Bicol provinces are concerned are Camarines Norte, Catanduanes and Sorsogon.
Deemed qualified for the yearly honor were the cities of Legazpi, Masbate, Ligao and Sorsogon.
There is, however, a lone municipality from Camarines Sur that will receive the coveted seal this year–Tigaon.
There are 35 municipalities in Camarines Sur.
Virac in Catanduanes and Mobo in Masbate will also be given the DILG award, which recognizes the local government unit’s (LGU) for their efficient handling of their finances, readiness to respond to calamities and assist its constituents, competitive local commerce and protection of the environment, among other things.
On a negative note, only 10 LGUs will be given the award this year as opposed to 17 last year. There are 120 LGUs in Bicol.
The awarding ceremony will take place on October 27 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel in Manila.
