Revil on scrapping elders, PWDs’ discount: Find another way, please

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
Masbate Vice Governor Kaye Revil vented on social media her strong disapproval over the proposed removal of seniors citizens and persons with disabilities’ (PWD) discounts in the name of lowered personal and corporate income taxes.
“Removing the 20% Discount for our Senior Citizens & PWDs for Tax Reform? Seriously?! No!!! Please don’t!!!” an affrighted Revil wrote on her Facebook Tuesday (September 27).
The same day, House of Representatives (HOR) reporters confirmed that the tax overhaul measure being pursued by the government involves the removal of elders and PWDs’ exemptions from the value added tax (VAT).
The move is meant to temper revenue losses resulting from the tax cut.
“C’mon now!!! There has to be another way– not at the expense of our senior citizens & PWDs!!!” the lady politiko insisted.
“In a country where our social security & medical benefits are not so good & people end up spending whatever savings they have for their old age health concerns, the least we can do is to give them the discount they are currently getting,” noted Revil, who has never been shy to air her views on the social media site.
