Ex-Mayor Pacamarra rapped for unauthorized Thailand trip, usage of public funds

Former San Jose, Camarines Sur Mayor Gilmar Pacamarra has been charged with graft for using government funds in his travel to Thailand.

The Office of the Ombudsman charged along with Pacamarra former senior administrative assistant Ma. Monette Jasmin Pacamarra, agricultural technologist Nida Peña, municipal civil registrar Muriel Abragan, and municipal accountant Imelda Caballero.

The Ombudsman also recommended that each of the accused post a bail bond of P30,000.

The case was filed after the Ombudsman discovered that on January 9, 2008, the accused all conspired to use P279,724.60 worth of government funds to travel to Thailand without a valid travel authority.

The case has already been raffled to the Sandiganbayan First Division.
