How to be you po? Batocabe nominated for seat in regional panel
AKO-Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe has been nominated as the Philippines’ regular member in the Asian Parliamentarian Standing Committee on Ageing.
The party-list shared the positive development via its Facebook account.
“In the inaugural meeting held in Hanoi last September, Batocabe actively participated in discussions concerning pressing issues of growing ageing populations, elderly concerns, and socioeconomic impacts of ageing,” its FB post read.
The event took place in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The meeting saw Batocabe join other Members of Parliament from the Asia-Pacific Region and experts from the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Asian Development Bank, HelpAge International, the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Asia and the Pacific.
Batocabe has been very active in proposing bills that seek to benefit the elder part of the population.
Among his pet measures at the Philippine House of Representatives (HOR) are bills lowering the optional retirement age and the senior citizens’ age to 56. If passed, these measures would allows early access to benefits granted under the law, enabling the elderly to live in relative comfort.
