Veteran moves: Lagman promotes Albay during Miss Universe talk
Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman is one smooth operator, and his constituents stand to benefit from it.
This, after the gray-haired politiko picked the perfect time to promote his province before Department of Tourism (DOT) officials in Wednesday afternoon’s (August 25) budget hearing at the House of Representatives (HOR).
During the hearing, Lagman brought up the topic of the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, which will be held in the Philippines on January 30, 2017.
Without hesitation, Lagman asked DOT executives about the possibility of bringing the Miss Universe contestants over to Albay.
“Could you possibly consider staging one of the activities of the pageant in Albay where we have the Mayon Volcano as a tourist attraction?” he said.
“Yes sir,” answered Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro.
“So far we’ve already talked to Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Vigan and Batangas. But now that you’ve mentioned if Albay is willing to welcome the Miss Universe contestants, we’ll definitely put you in the line up sir,” she added.
Needless to say, the presence of the “most beautiful women in the universe” in Albay would boost local tourism–and this was definitely Lagman’s motivation in the first place.
Shameless plug? We’d rather call it a veteran move.
