Drug surrenderees in Sorsogon passes 2k mark

0

The number of people linked to the illegal drug trade who surrendered to police in Sorsogon has passed the 2,000 mark as of the first week of August, police there said.

But a report on Bicol Today said no pusher or dealer was among these surrenderees, many of whom were street peddlers.

Authorities had stepped up their anti-drug efforts after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered an all-out war on drugs (http://bicoltoday.com/2016/08/04/sorsogon-latest-anti-illegal-drug-campaign-2099-surrenderees-who-are-the-drug-middlemen/).

Provincial police said that as of Aug. 2, 2,099 drug personalities have voluntarily surrendered and were released after undergoing documentation.

They then executed an affidavit of undertaking indicating willingness to refrain from any illegal drug activity, and to cooperate in the campaign against illegal drugs.
