Sorsogon Rep. Evelina Escudero has been appointed chair of the House committee on basic education and culture.

The mother of Sen. Chiz Escudero used to be a member of the University of the Philippines Board of Regents.

Escudero is a UP product from college to her doctorate and this where she met her late husband, a fellow educator, former Agriculture Secretary Sonny Escudero.

She served as the president of the UP Alumni Association Hostel and Canteen Services, Inc. and worked as a professor at the OB Montessori College.
