Barangay officials were among more than 100 drug users who surrendered to authorities in the Bicol region in recent weeks.

In Camarines Norte, the provincial police said Wednesday evening at least 80 users surrendered and pledged to quit involvement with illegal drugs.

The police said in a tweet the 80 are from the San Lorenzo Ruiz area in Camarines Norte (https://twitter.com/camnorte2013/status/750639210952921088).

Meanwhile, in Sorsogon, Bicol Today reported 31 drug dependents, including eight barangay officials, surrendered to police.

Aside from the eight barangay officials, two fishermen, a businessman, three tricycle drivers and 17 laborers and jobless people turned themselves in (http://bicoltoday.com/2016/07/06/31-drug-dependents-including-8-barangay-officials-give-up-in-sorsogon/).

The Duterte administration has adopted a tough stance against drugs and those involved in the trade.
