DOH targets to inoculate at least 1 million Bicolanos during National Vaccination Days
More than one million Bicolanos are targeted to receive their vaccination against COVID-19 during the National Vaccination Days on November 29 to December 1, the Health department said.
The event is in line with Bayanihan Bakunahan, a nationwide vaccination activity that aims to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos against COVID-19. The three-day vaccination activity includes the vaccination of those who belong to the rest of the adult population or those aged 18 years old and above.
Likewise, those who are 12 to 17 years old are also included. Booster doses will also be given to those belonging to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups, or the healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbid conditions.
The vaccination activity mobilizes all government agencies and other stakeholders to ramp up vaccination against COVID-19.
With demand generation being essential in the vaccination program, the Bicol CHD is urging all vaccinated individuals to encourage others who have not been vaccinated yet.
It also asks the public to listen only to information released by the Department of Health to avoid false information on COVID-19 and its vaccination.
As of November 22, only around 25% of the population in the Bicol Region are fully vaccinated. At least 70% of the population needs to be vaccinated for a community to achieve population protection.
With the daily vaccination activities our LGUs are currently conducting, the National Vaccination Days hope to increase further the vaccination coverage to achieve population protection in the region.
