Bicol region kicks off pediatric vaccination
The COVID-19 Vaccination for the Pediatric Population for ages 12 to 17 kicked off in Bicol on Friday, November 5.
According to the DOH Bicol, the sites for the vaccination of young people include the three DOH hospitals namely the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in Legazpi City, the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) in Naga City and the Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC) in Cabusao, Camarines Sur.
“The 12 to 17 years old population with or without co-morbidities will be given COVID-19 vaccination,” the health department said.
Based on the DOH Department Circular No. 2021-0464, a young individual with co-morbidity must secure from their attending physician/pediatrician a medical certification detailing their ailment prior to their scheduled vaccination. This certification will have to be presented by the vacinee at the registration area during the vaccination day.
These minors will receive either Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the two brands which received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) approval issued by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration.
“As vaccines continue to arrive in the region, DOH Bicol encourages all Bicolanos ages 12 and above to register and submit themselves for COVID-19 vaccination. All COVID-19 vaccines are effective to prevent severe and critical forms of COVID-19,” the DOH Bicol said.
