Albay VG Lagman thanks ‘brave’ businesses that open during pandemic
Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman has thanked businesses that decided to gamble and open despite the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Thank goodness for brave businesspeople who, despite this pandemic, have decided to invest in ventures that will create jobs, lower the price of commodities through fairer competition and spur the local economy via increased spending,” said the vice governor.
“Let’s face it: ours is a consumer-driven economy. This new appliance center in Tabaco will serve to reinforce this economic status quo. It will contribute to more sales and, at least in the short-term, stimulate local spending,” he added.
Lagman also hopes that the day will come when Tabaco City becomes a real driver of economies.
“This will only happen if Tabaqueños will invest in manufacturing. A small-scale version for its world-class cutlery (tabak) can be a start,” said Lagman.
“Let’s stay away from existing cottage industry-type production. Let’s dream a little bit bigger and be more intrepid by looking at producing tabaks on a bigger scale,” he added.
