For 3rd, last term: Lord Velasco to run for reelection
By Billy Begas
House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco will run for reelection as the congressional representative of Marinduque’s lone district.
Velasco filed his certificate of candidacy before the office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Boac town, Marinduque.
He vows to continue championing the interests and welfare of Marinduqueños should he be given another three-year term in Congress.
Velasco was a member of the 15th, 16th, 17th and the current 18th Congress.
During the 16th Congress (2013-2016) the Comelec ordered the removal of Velasco’s rival Rep. Regina Reyes on July 11, 2013 for being a naturalized American citizen.
However, Velasco was able to take his oath as member of the House of Representatives only on February 1, 2016.
