Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol exceed 27,000

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol region have surged past the 27,000 mark after the Health department logged an additional 244 infections.

Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol as of September 6 currently stood at 27,151, of which, 5,441 are tagged as active.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, the DOH also confirmed 143 new recoveries, pushing the total number of recoveries to 20,741.

Death toll on the other hand climbed to 969 after eight new fatalities due to the dreaded disease were confirmed.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH reiterated.
