Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol exceed 22,000

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol region have surged past the 22,000 mark after the Health department confirmed 94 new infections.

Total cases in the region now stood at 22,052 as of August 9, of which 2,984 are tagged as active.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

The DOH also logged 93 new recoveries, pushing the total number of recoveries in Bicol to 18,226.

Death toll also climbed to 842 after 4 patients succumbed to the dreaded disease.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,: said the DOH.
