Cumulative COVID-19 cases in Bicol exceed 19,000

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol have surge past the 19,000 mark, data from the Health department showed.

Cumulative cases as of July 8 are now 19,057 after the DOH logged 94 new infections.

Active cases are now at 4,459.

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries climbed to 13,942 after the DOH logged 264 new recoveries.

However, the Health department also reported 7 new fatalities. Death toll now rose to 656.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
