As she faced her suspension for ordering the closure of mining operations, Brooke’s Point Mayor Maryjean Feliciano stands firm in her belief that she did the right thing for her town and fo the environment.

In a Facebook, Feliciano shared that even when she was Vice Mayor in 2007, mining firms have been offering her various benefits to gain her favor.

The offers include trucks she could use for her business as well as millions in campaign funds, but she turned all these down.

She said she was contented with her life and could not betray Brook’s Point.

Many people trust her, including farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, and workers, she said.

She would face her suspension, she said, but added that she was saddened that an illegal mining firm is depriving the 20,000 people who voted for her of the chance to serve them.

She leaves everything up to the Lord, she said, and called on those who love Brooke’s Point not to lose hope and not to be afraid.

They are fighting for a just cause, and they should not be cowed, she said.

Sabi NYA “vengeance is mine.” “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for HIM; Do not fret when evil men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”Ps.37:7

GOD bless Brooke’s Point,” Feliciano posted.
