Albay VG Lagman hopes church leaders would follow Pope Francis’ mindset

Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that secular leaders would follow the “progressive” mindset of Pope Francis.

“We are all His children. We are all equal before His eyes. So our laws must also afford equality and compassion,” said the Vice Governor.

“Pope Francis never discriminated against gays and lesbians. It’s about time the Roman Catholic Church has an activist leader and a progressive-minded humanist at the helm,” he added.

Lagman’s statement came after the Pontiff expressed his support to same-sex civil union.

This is the first time in history of the Catholic Church that a Pope openly supported same-sex civil union.

“I hope secular leaders the world over are also of this mindset,” Vice Governor Lagman said.
