Drug recovery clinic, mental health facility set to open in Palawan by year’s end

Through the initiative of Palawan Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez, the first ever Drug Recovery Clinic and Mental Health Clinic in the province are set to open by the end of the year.

The said health facilities are now beuy built in Brgy. Antipuluan in Narra, where an old hospital there is being renovated.

“Itong lumang ospital, ito ay gagawin na nating drug recovery clinic at mental health clinic na kauna-unahan sa Palawan…Kaya kung sakaling mabuksan ito, gawan natin lahat ng ospital dito sa Palawan,” said Alvarez.

Dra. Maria Arlin Josue, Chief-of-Hospital of Narra Municipal Hospital, said that the health facilities will benefit drug surrenderees.

“Nag-undergo na kami noon ng training para sa Drug Recovery Clinic, kasama namin ang Provincial Government at ang PADAP… Tinuruan kami to handle the sessions na ipo-provide for our [moderate drug cases] surrenderees…”, said Dra. Josue.

The new Mental Health Clinic will also help address the rising number of mental health concerns in Narra.

“Sa kasalukuyan, tuluy-tuloy na rin ang ginagawang koordinasyon ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at ng Narra Municipal Hospital sa iba pang mga ahensiya para sa pagsasaayos ng mga nabanggit na pasilidad at maging ang manpower nito gayundin ang sistema ng magiging operations ng mga ito,” said the province.
