IATF Mimaropa places Calapan City under MECQ from Aug. 13 to 26
The Regional Inter-Agency task Force (RIATF) MIMAROPA for COVID-19 has placed Calapan City under a stricter community quarantine starting tomorrow, August 13 until 26.
“Pursuant to Resolution No. 12, series of 2020, Regional Inter-Agency task Force (RIATF) MIMAROPA for COVID-19, concurred with Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor’s appeal to impose Modified Enhance Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Calapan City, due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the City, effective August 13-26, 2020,” the task force said.
In a letter from Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor addressed RIATF Chairperson and DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Wilhelm Suyko, the 14-day stricter quarantine measure will enable the LGU to conduct widespread contact tracing and isolate the people who may have been exposed to the COVID-19 patients.
“As of August 10, 2020, Calapan City Mayor Arnan Panaligan noted that a total of 42 COVID-19 positive cases were recorded in a single day, outnumbering the current COVID-19 cases in the entire Province of Oriental Mindoro,” said the task force.
The 42 new COVID-19 cases brought the total number of 57 cases in the province as of August 10.
Panaligan earlier said that the 42 trainees are currently placed under isolation at the City Treatment and Isolation Facility sa City Hall Complex.
