Second COVID fatality recorded in Sorsogon

The second coronavirus disease fatality in Sorsogon has been recorded by the Department of Health Bicol yesterday.

Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero expressed his condolences to the family of Francisco Bayoca, 79 years old from Brgy. Maningcay, Prieto Diaz.

“Si Bayoca na tinaguriang Bicol Patient No. #423 ay boluntaryong pumirma ng waiver para maisapubliko ang kanyang pangalan ng sumailalim siya sa RT/PCR noong Hulyo 27,” the Sorsogon provincial government said.

“Ayon sa ulat ng DOH Bicol, Hulyo 26 ng unang nagpakonsulta si Bayoca sa Prieto Diaz Municipal Hospital matapos makaramdam ng sintomas na kahalintulad sa COVID19 virus at agarang dinala sa isang pribadong ospital sa Sorsogon City,” it added.

Bayoca had no travel history but the the Provincial Health Office that some of his relatives from Manila visited the wake of his late wife last July 16.

“Ang mga kamag-anak ay may dalang resulta ng rapid test na negatibo at isinailalim sa home quarantine,” said the province.

“Sa ngayon patuloy ang ginagawang contact tracing ng Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (MESU) ng bayan ng Prieto Diaz sa mga kapamilya ni Bayoca at sa mga taong pwedeng nakasalamuha ng mga ito,” it added.
