Albay Gov. Bichara bats for stricter border control amid rising COVID cases in Bicol
Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara proposed to have a strict border control amid the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases.
During the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting, he recommended the need of stricter surveillance on the borders of the province to lessen the cases of COVID-19.
So he proposed a Border Control Ordinance and mandatory rapid diagnostic test screening of all in-bound passengers at the Albay Border checkpoints.
“The PDC also endorsed a resolution requesting the disallowance of train as transportation of locally-stranded individuals going back the province,” the Capitol said.
“This was raised since a number of cases in the province for the past weeks were found out to have availed the service of Philippine National Railways trains to Albay,” it added.
Gov. Bichara also said that “these actions were taken in order to mitigate and avoid threats of COVID-19 infection local transmission in the province.”
