Albay Sangguian urges national gov’t to amend its protocols in dealing with PUIs

The Albay Sangguniang Panlalawigan is urging the Department of Health to amend its protocol of sending home persons under investigations who are symptomatic patients to take self-quarantine.

The Albay SP just passed the “Resolution strongly urging for amendments on the policies/guidleine/protocols set forth by the IATF-DOH in relation to treatment of PUIs and COVID positive patients with mild symptoms.”

Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that the DOH should not pass its obligation to the barangay officials who are not even health professionals.

Lagman also said that the national government “should listen” to the local officials because they are at the front line of the situatioin.

“Yes, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay’s (SPA) position is for the DOH to AMEND its protocols in our province. National governments should listen to local government officials because we know the situation on the ground and because your national health policies are not “one size fits all” strategies applicable to all local governments,” he said.
