A 21-month-old baby from Calapan City became the first confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 in the province of Oriental Mindoro.

Governor Humerlito Dolor announced today that the child is from Barangay Ilaya in Calapan City.

“Ang bata ay may history of travel to Alabang mula March 5-March 12.

The guardians of the kid, who are now under home quarantine, will also undergo testing according to Dolor.

The governor meanwhile asked his constituents to remain calm as he reminded them to strictly follow the protocols in place to prevent the spread of the disease.

“PANAWAGAN po sa LAHAT: HINDI PO MAKATUTULONG ang MAG-PANIC. Sa ganitong sitwasyon, KAILANGAN NATING LALONG SUMUNOD sa mga PANUNTUNAN ng STRICT HOME QUARANTINE, PHYSICAL DISTANCING, LIQUOR BAN at WEARING NG FACIAL MASK o ANUMANG KATULAD NITO,” he said.
