Palawan gov’t steps up measures vs coronavirus

The Palawan’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) spearheaded the health cluster meeting amid the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

The said meeting was part of Palawan provincial government’s precautionary measures against the said virus, which has so far infected around 8,000 people and killed hundreds in China.

“Tinalakay sa nasabing pagpupulong ang mga precautionary measures na dapat gawin ng bawat ahensiya upang maiwasan ang pagpasok ng naturang virus at kung ano ang mga gagawing hakbang sakali namang makapasok ang mapanganib na sakit dito sa lalawigan,” said the Capitol.

PDRRM Officer Jeremias Alili highlighted the importance of communication and coordination among government agencies in times of emergency like this situation at hand.

The Department of Health has already confirmed the first case of coronavirus yesterday. The patient is currently confined at the San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

Present during the meeting were representatives Provincial Health Office, Bureau of Immigration, Philippine Coast Guard, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Bureau of Quarantine, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO), Ospital ng Palawan, Philippine National Red Cross, Philippine Coast Guard, Palawan Rescue 165, Philippine National Police, Western Command and Provincial Tourism Office.

“Nagbigay din ng pag-uulat ang bawat ahensiyang nabanggit kaugnay sa kanilang mga ginagawang hakbang upang masigurong ligtas ang mga mamamayan,” said the province.

“Sa kasalukuyan ay nakaalerto na ang mga ospital sa buong lalawigan maging ang mga operation centers ng PDRRMO at Rescue 165 at mahigpit na ang ipanatutupad na security measures sa bawat paliparan at pantalan sa lalawigan upang maiwasan ang pagpasok ng mga turistang posibleng may sintomas ng corona virus,” it added.
