Tisoy-hit Sorsogon province receives financial aid from Taiwan
Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero has received the disaster relief donation from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO).
Escudero personally received the financial aid from Representative Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu and Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Vice-Chairman Gilberto Lauengco.
The financial aid amounted to $100,000.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to Taiwan and its people for their assistance to the post-disaster relief operation in Sorsogon
“Taiwan has proven many times over that they are a friend, not only of myself but of the province and the people of Sorsogon,” Escudero was quoted as saying.
On the other hand, the ambassador underscored the commitment of Taiwan to stand with close neighbors in need of help
“He also recognized their friendship with Escudero since his time in the Congress,” the Sorsogon PIO said.
Sorsogon was one of the provinces in Bicol Region that was severely hit by Typhoon Tisoy last December.
