Albay SP supports localization of Magna Carta for Women, says VG Lagman

Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan backs the symposium on the localization of the Magna Carta for Women or the RA 9710 in the province.

“Public and private universities, colleges and secondary schools in Albay will revisit existing school policies that may tend to limit a female student’s continuing enrollment because of her unplanned pregnancy,” the Vice Governor said.

“It was agreed in principle that this occurence should not affect her standing as a student,” he added.

Lagman also said that many other allied issues were likewise discussed which all geared to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in the workplace, in school and other allied mainstream institutions in Albay.

“Thank you to the invaluable inputs of the symposium’s resource speakers Commissioner Cristeta Triumfante of the Philippine Commission on Women and Atty. Antonio Bron legal counsel of Divine Word College of Legazpi,” said Lagman.

“Especially happy for the attendees-student council leaders of the community colleges of Polangui, Oas, Ligao, Daraga and San Jose community College in Malilipot,” he added.
