Albay VG Lagman attends human rights seminar
Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman has attended a human rights seminar in Albay.
“An overview of human rights based on Constitutional and statutory provisions presented in Filipino using examples that participants can easily relate to and understand,” Lagman said.
The Vige Governor noted that it was a “strong pitch” in support of the Human Rights Defenders and Protection Bill pending in Congress.
“A strong pitch as well to local legislative councils from the barangay level up to the municipal, city and provincial local legislatures to come up with legislative measures in support of the Human Rights Defenders and Protection Bill pending in both the HoR and the Senate,” said Lagman.
“There should always be a national-local government nexus in crafting legislation.”
Speakers during the event were Nilda Lagman-Sevilla, co-chairperson of Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance (FIND) and Seminar Specialist MMelchor Cayabyab of the Commission of Human Rights (CHR).
Also present during the seminar were BM Eva Ribaya and BM Glenda Ong Bongao.
