Albay gov’t seeks to modernize farming sector
The Albay Provincial Government is looking for ways to modernize its agriculture sector.
Governor Al Francis C. Bichara recently met with Agriculture department executives and a Korean firm for a roadshow.
Bicharam held a meeting with Dir. Rodel P. Tornilla of Department of Agriculture – RFO V, Dir. Arnel Ramoir Apaga of PhilMech and Dr. Valentino C. Perdido of DA Central Office as they welcomed Korean Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO) Director Kim Kyong Soo and his team on a roadshow last November 13.
It was held at the Albay Farmers Bounty Village.
“A field demonstration of machinery such as Tractor 40HP with Levee and Loader (FIT), Tractor 55HP with Plow, Tractor 40HP with Rotavator and Leveler, Seeder (FIT), Handy Cultivator set with former and mulcher, Boom Sprayer (FIT) and drone was conducted in today’s event,” the province said.
Meanwhile, in another event the Provincial Government of Albay through the Provincial Health Office spearheaded the launching of the Republic Act 11223 otherwise known as the Universal Health Care Act (UHC) to rural health units and health officers of the third district.
“Dra. Myrna R. Suratos, chief of Benefit Administration Section of PhilHealth Region V, explained the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Special Health Fund. The Department of Health Region V also simplified the UHC in as far as the health sector is concerned,” the province said.
“The UHC law ensures the holistic care for every citizen by reorienting health care from a curative care-focused system towards health promotion and preventive care,” it added.
