DPWH begins construction of P40.24M DTI-Legazpi City building
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that it has started the construction of the P40.24 million three-storey building of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) located at the Regional Government Center in Rawis, Legazpi City.
The DPWH said that the 3,020 square meter building is seen to aid DTI Region 5 in providing its constituents more income opportunities that will fulfill their “goal in fostering a globally competitive and innovative economic industry.”
For his part, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar highlighted the role that public infrastructure plays in effectively delivering government agencies’ mandate.
“The construction of DTI’s regional office is one step forward towards the holistic growth and improvement of trade and industry in the country. With government offices becoming more accessible, the public can now avail the services they offer,” Secretary Villar was quoted as saying.
Moreover, the said project is likewise seen to provide better coordination and stronger connectivity between DPWH and DTI is expected, as they implement the Roads Leveraging Linkages Industry and Trade (ROLL IT).
The ROLL IT is a joint project of DPWH and DTIB which primarily aims to promote economic growth through infrastructure development.
“The building project is funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and is expected to be completed in May 2020,” the DPWH said.
