Marinduque Rep. Velasco hails enactment of two energy laws
Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco has lauded the enactment of two energy laws by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The President signed into law the Murang Kuryente Act of Republic Act 11361 and the Anti-Obstruction of Powerlines Act or the RA 11371.
Velasco, chairman of the House committee on energy, served as the co-author of these laws.
“The Murang Kuryente Law aims to reduce the electricity bills down to the household level by allocating about P208 billion from the net national government share from Malampaya Fund for the payment of the stranded contract cost and stranded debts being levied on consumers as part of the Universal Charge,” said Velasco.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Obstruction of Powerlines Act aims to prohibit the introduction of plants and other structure within the right of way limit of power transmission lines to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The Marinduque solon said that the passage of these laws will ensure lesser electricity bill for consumers as well as stable power supply in the country.
He also said that the laws “will greatly contribute in the country’s quest for reliable, affordable and sustainable energy supply.”
