Palawan SP urges LGUs to step up campaign against dengue
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Palawan has urged the local government units (LGUs) in the province to step up their campaign against dengue.
Board Member Sharon Abiog-Onda authored the said resolution, which was adopted by the SP.
Board Member Onda expressed alarm over the dengue outbreak in the country as well as in MIMAROPA region, saying that Palawan should intensify its information campaign against the virus.
The Department of Health introduced the 4S strategy to avoid dengue.
“Ito ay ang Search and destroy mosquito breeding places, Self-protective measures katulad ng pagsusuot ng mahabang manggas at paggamit ng insect repellent, Seek early consultation sa unang senyales at sintomas ng sakit at Say yes to fogging kung may babala ng outbreak,” said the province.
Meanwhile, Board Member Juan Antonio Alvarez also authored a resolution asking Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez to increase the funds to purchase basic medicines for the Barangay Health Centers.
“Medical assistance offered at Barangay Health Centers is the most accessible form of health service to the citizens of Palawan and providing free medicine is the most basic, as it aids those people who, because of poverty, cannot buy medicines from pharmacies or drugstores,” said BM Alvarez.
