Acting Catanduanes Gov. Abuno eyes improving education, sports development programs
Acting Catanduanes Governor Shirley Abundo said she will focus on expanding the educational assistance of the Capitol under the scholarship program of suspended Governor Joseph Cua.
Cua was reelected governor last May 19 elections but he is still serving his suspension.
Abundo said that the educational assistance will “highly benefit” the students and help them attain college degrees.
The Acting Governor also said that she plans to improve the Sports Development Program of the province.
“There is already a legislation. It is a matter of implementation now for the Office of the Governor or the Executive para maisakatuparan po itong Sports Development Program sa mga kabataan po natin,” Abundo was quoted as saying.
Moreover, Abundo also encouraged the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members to help in the implementation of policies concerning agriculture and tourism, as well as the issue of ticketing stand in Tabaco port in Albay.
Abundo also said that collective efforts from the SP and the provincial development heads are needed in order to develop the province.
“You do not need to say na tao ako ni Shirley Abundo. Hindi po ganon. Tao po kayo ng probinsya ng Catanduanes. So let us work together as government employees of the province of Catanduanes.”
“I may not be given the chance again to be in this position. Minsan lang po sa buhay ko na maging Acting Governor ako, pababayaan ko po ba na mamali pa ako? Hangga’t naririto ako, gagawin ko rin naman po yung hinihingi sa akin ng pagkakataon na maging isang Acting Governor,” she said.
