Albay VG-elect Lagman hails his ‘superdad’
Albay Vice Governor-elect Edcel Grex Lagman has penned a heartwarming father’s day message to his Super Papa, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman.
The younger Lagman said his father is his “superman” who taught him a lot of things in life.
The VG-elect said that Rep. Edcel, who is now serving his 8th term as congressman, “put the First District of Albay on the country’s map.”
“Naalala ko pa yung daily commutes niya by tricycle, jeep, bus and taxi papuntang law office niya sa Makati mula sa bahay namin sa Parañaque. Yung pag-type ng sarili niyang mga pleadings magdamagan sa bahay,” the younger Lagman said.
“Oo, wala pang computers noong 70s. Sa kanya ko natutunan ang “truism” na lahat ng magagandang pangarap mo sa buhay na gusto mong maabot, dapat mong paghirapan,” he recalled.
Grex said that when his father ran for congress in 1987, he was a dark horse and “very few” believed that he could win.
“Pero he—-and everyone of us in his immediate family—-never doubted that he would. Because he was simply the best candidate. And he grew up, studied in and literally breathed Albay more than anyone I knew. So, he was actually THE hometown hero. Thirty-two (32) years later today, he still is the best man to represent the district in Congress,” he said.
“To an amazing dad and someone who does not need to don a cape to be called a superhero, happiest (YET) father’s day! Thanks also for inspiring me to become a lawyer. Otherwise i would have probably pursued my childhood dream of becoming a doctor and ended up as such.”
“I wouldn’t have been able to read the books you’ve read nor have had the chance to share common experiences with you in the fields of law and governance. Happy to have followed in your footsteps, papa!,” added Lagman.
