Mayor Bongat leads tree planting activity in Mt. Isarog
Outgoing Naga City Mayor John Bongat is making the most out of his remaining time in office.
Mayor Bongat today led the tree planting activity in Mt. Isarog as part of the celebration of the Arbor Day.
“MORE THAN 1,000 VOLUNTEERS trooped to Mt Isarog Natural Park, Panicuason, Naga City this morning to honor the city’s call to plant a total of 5,000 trees on Arbor Day,” Mayor Bongat said.
“Thank you very much to all of you who joined me and City ENRO for making the city’s 71st Charter Anniversary celebration environmentally meaningful,” he said.
Bongat recalled that in 2011, he issued a proclamation declaring June 15 of that year and every year thereafter as Naga City Tree Planting Day.
Mayor Bongat will step down as Naga City’s local chief executive on June 30 after serving three terms in office.
He will be replaced by Vice Mayor and now Mayor-elect Nelson Legacion.
