Reprehensible! OkSi Rep. Sato says sinking of PH boat by Chinese vessel should not go unanswered
Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato said that the sinking of a Philippine boat by a Chinese vessel is “reprehensible and cannot go unanswered.”
The Department of National Defense earlier reported that 22 fishermen were left floating off the waters near Recto Bank after colliding with a Chinese vessel.
“The allision of the Chinese vessel with our boat from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro was unprovoked and must not be tolerated by the Philippine government. Putting the lives of 22 of our fishermen at risk is reprehensible and cannot go unanswered,” Ramirez said in a statement.
A Vietnamese vessel rescued the Filipino fishermen.
Sato also urged the President to take action to address the violation of the country’s “territorial integrity.”
“As the Representative of the people of Occidental Mindoro, I speak for our province in urging President Rodrigo Duterte and other members of the government to take immediate action to address this affront to our people and violation of our country’s territorial integrity.”
“As details of the disaster solidify, my prayers are with the fishermen and their families who were affected by this dastardly and criminal act,” Sato said.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin earlier said that he has already filed a diplomatic protest because of the incident.
