Bichara proclaimed Albay governor anew
Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara has officially been proclaimed reelected by the Comelec Provincial Board of Canvassers today.
The proclamation was held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall in the Albay provincial Capitol.
It was a landslide victory for Bichara who garnered 292,767 votes for 53.24% of the totals votes cast.
Former Vice-Governor Harold Imperial trailed Bichara with only 25.36% of votes or 139,457 votes.
This is Bichara’s second term as Governor. He also served governor of Albay from 1995 to 2004.
Meanwhile, Bichara’s running-mate, Atty. Edcel Greco Lagman was also proclaimed as Albay’s Vice-Governor garnering 360,013 votes for 65.70% of total votes cast.
According to the Comelec’s Provincial Certificate of Canvas, Albay has 840,500 total numbers of registered voters from 18 cities and municipalities.
“The voters turnout for this year’s election was 666,091 or a 79.24% turnout,” the province said.
