Albay holds PWD Day as part of Magayon Festival 2019
The Albay Capitol spearheaded the celebration of Persons with Disability (PWD) Day as part of the Magayon Festival 2019.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Albay was in charge of the event held at the Albay Astrodome, in Legazpi City.
“The program aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and also to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life,” the province said.
Board Member Ralph Andes, Chairman Committee on Senior Citizens & Persons with Disability, welcomed the guest and participants on the said event.
Andes said that the Provincial Government has a lot of programs and benefits for them.
“In recognition that girls with disabilities can and do accomplish amazing things, a segment of the PWD Day was reserved for the search for Ms. Amazing 2019. Fourteen beautiful and talented candidates represented their different localities,” the province said.
“Candidates showcased their talents to the judges during the talent competition, and to show off more their personality and sporty side the candidates modeled their sportswear. On their last ramp, the fourteen beautiful ladies looked stunning in their elegant evening gowns,” it added.
Ms. Jhona Peña of Malinao, Albay was crowned Ms. Amazing 2019. Ms. Vanessa Aubrey Marie Bataller of Legazpi City finished 1st runner up is while 2nd runner up is Ms. Catherine Bilaro of Bacacay, Albay.
