Palawan Capitol backs Palaweño athletes joining Arafura Games in Australia
The Palawan Capitol has expressed its support to Palaweño athletes who will participate at the Arafura Games 2019 in Darwin, Australia.
A total of 11 athletes, 3 coaches and officials from Provincial Sports Division flew to the land down under for the sports tilt that will begin in April 27 to May 4.
Francis Nemenzo, Sports and Games Inspector ng Provincial Sports Division, said that the Palaweño athletes will compete in athletics and boxing together with other Filipino delegates from other provinces.
“Yung mga ipapadala natin ay iyong mga athlete na nanalo ng gold, silver and bronze sa Brunei BIMP Eaga noong December 2018,” said Nemenzo.
Other athletes sent by the Philippine Sports Commision came from Davao City, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Davao del Norte, General Santos, and Palawan.
“Ang Arafura games 2019 ay isang international friendly games na lalahukan ng mahigit tatlumpung bansa, kasama na rito ang bansang Pilipinas,” the province said.
“c ay isang natatangi at inclusive na multi-sport event na kung saan ang mga atletang may kapansanan ay binibigyan ng oportunidad na makipagkumpitensya sa parehong programa,” it added.
