Catanduanes provincial gov’t urges youth, film enthusiasts to join Bicol film festival
The Catanduanes provincial government has encouraged its residents, particularly thr youth to join this year’s Bicol Film Competition and Festival.
The said festival will feature short film competition. Interested individuals, companies, or organizations may send their entries, which should not exceed 20 minutes and should have dialogues primarily in Bicol.
“The organizing committee sent out invitations to various schools in Bicol and will accept entries from the public to attract both established and new talents in the region to pave their way to the mainstream film industry and international market,” the provincial capitol said.
The event will also include acting, scriptwriting, film directing, cinematography and photography workshops.
“Aside from the short film contest, the festival will also have song writing contest, photo contest, choir and rondalla recital, writer’s day and Gubing Fashion Show to further discover talents and promote the Bicolano culture,” said the province.
The winner of the short film will receive a prize of P100,000 and a trophy during the Awards Night in August.
Submission of entries is only until July 28, 2019.
“The Bicol Film Festival is a collaborative effort among private individuals, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts in the Bicol region that aims to develop and showcase Bicolano talents, and promote Bicol cinema by developing an audience and a sustainable film industry in the region,” the province said.
