Cry for justice! Justin Batocabe asks Albay courts not to inhibit from his father’s murder case
Atty. Justin Batocabe has called on the courts in Albay to refrain from recusing from the murder case of his father, late Ako Bicol partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe.
Rep. Rodel and his aide were killed last December in Daraga while attending a gift giving event.
“My father’s murderers shot 6 senior citizens and PWD’s just to get to him. Grabe ang pagka-ganid at hayok nila sa pera at posisyon; nang-damay pa sila ng mga taong pinaka nangagailangan ng ating pagkalinga taltlong araw bago mag Pasko,” the younger Batocabe said.
“Apat na buwan na ang nakalilipas, nararamdaman pa ng anim ang sakit na dinulot ng pamamaril,” he said.
Atty. Batocabe said that his family still cries for justice months after the tragic incident.
“We continue our cry for justice. We call upon the courts of Albay to refrain from inhibiting Cong. Rodel Batocabe’s case and proceed to trial without delay,” he said.
“We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for our day in court and a chance at justice and truth,” he added.
The case was earlier raffled under the sala of Judge Edgar Armes.
“Patuloy ang aming panawagan at pagmamakaawa para sa hustisya. Nanawagan kami kay Judge Edgar Armes, na ‘wag na sana sya mag inhibit o magpaunlak ng mga kun ano ano pang magpapatagal sa kaso,” the younger Batocabe said then.
Incumbent Daraga Mayor Carlwyn “Awin” Baldo was tagged as the mastermind behind Batocabe’s killing.
Rep. Batocabe was challenging Baldo’s incumbency as Daraga Mayor when he was assassinated.
